The Indian Women’s Football team will play against Brazil for the first time; will also take on Chile and Venezuela for their AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 preparation.
The Indian Women’s Football team is gearing up for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup by regularly playing international friendly matches. In October 2021, they played four friendlies in the UAE and in Bahrain where they won against higher-ranked Chinese Taipei. After the tour of UAE and Bahrain, the Indian team travelled to Sweden to play against Swedish Women’s Premier League sides Hammarby and Djurgårdens IF.
In their last leg of preparation, the Indian team will travel to South America to play against Brazil, Chile and Venezuela. Indian Women’s team will play against World No. 7 Brazil on November 25, World No 37 Chile on November 28 and World No 56 Venezuela on December 1. All the matches will be played at Manaus in Brazil.
“As the governing body, we want to provide the best platform for preparation for our women’s senior team as they prepare for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022,” AIFF general secretary Kushal Das said. He also said that AIFF is finalising the schedule for a four-nation tournament to be held in Kerala in December as part of these exposure tours.
