Consecutive birdies on the last two holes helped India’s Subhankar Sharma lift the title at the third edition of the Maybank Championship at the Saujana Golf and Country Club in Subang. This is Subhankar’s second
Asian Tour and European Tour sanctioned tournament title after winning the Joburg Open in December 2017.
21-year-old Subhankar overcame a four-shot deficit by shooting a flawless round of 10-under-par 62 for a winning total of 21-under-par 267. “I’m happy that I did not make any bogeys in today’s round and was very satisfied about it. The last two holes worked out well and turned out to be very fantastic to me,” said Subhankar.
The win gave him a prize money of US$500,000 and received the prestigious championship trophy. The victory also moved him to the top of the Asian Tour’s Habitat for Humanity Standings and on the Race to Dubai on the European Tour.
