Paris Paralympics Day 7- On another landmark day for India, the highlights were Harvinder Singh’s and Dharambir’s gold medal wins.
Three years after winning India’s first Paralympic archery medal in Tokyo, Harvinder Singh earned the country’s first Paralympic gold in Archery. Singh won the gold medal match on Paris Paralympics Day 7 against Poland’s Lukasz Ciszek in straight sets. He shot the centre of the target four times in the process.
Dharambir won gold in the Men’s Club Throw F51 event while Pranav Soorma secured silver. The 35-year-old athlete from Sonipat clinched gold with a throw of 34.92 metres in his fifth attempt. Pranav Soorma with a throw of 34.59m finished second to give India a historic 1-2 podium finish on Day 7.
World champion Sachin Khilari won silver in the Men’s Shot Put F46 event. The 34-year-old secured the medal in style at Paris with an Asian record of 16.32m on his second attempt.
