Manu Bhaker creates history for India
Manu Bhaker opened India’s medal account by winning bronze in 10m Air Pistol event on Paris Olympics Day 2. The final began with eight shooters getting 20 shots each. Then with every set of two shots, one shooter started getting eliminated. The first one to get eliminated was the leader from the qualifiers, Veronika Major. It was left with the final three- Ye-jin and Ye-ji from Korea and Manu Bhaker from India.
In the fight for the top two, Ye-ji shot 10.5 to Bhaker’s 10.3. Thus, Manu lost the second place to Ye-ji by the tiniest of margin.
Manu Bhaker became the first Indian woman to win a Shooting medal. She is the 5th Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal after Rajyavardhan Rathore (silver in 2004), Abhinav Bindra (gold in 2008), Vijay Kumar (silver in 2012) and Gagan Narang (bronze in 2012).

Australia topped the standings after it won its fourth gold medal of the 2024 Games. South Korea, China and Japan are tied on three gold medals, while France is fifth with two gold medals.
On Day 2, legendary gymnast Simone Biles made her Olympic comeback. though she suffered a calf injury just before taking the floor qualifying competition.But she recovered and showed her brilliance to take USA to the finals by topping the table in the qualifying round.
Tennis star Rafael Nadal won his first round match against Marton Fucsovics 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. He set up a massive clash in the next round against Noval Djokovic.
