Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev has taken over as president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI)- the apex body for the Men’s game in India.

41 years after he led India to the famous World Cup victory, Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev has embarked on new journey. He has taken over the mantle of president of PGTI from HR Srinivasan.

Kapil Dev has been an active golf player post his retirement from cricket. He represented the country at the senior amateur level with some distinction. His fame has earned him invitations to major events like the Dunhill Links, where he played alongside other global celebrities.

Before becoming the President, Kapil Dev served as the vice-president and member of the PGTI’s governing body for the last three years. As a board member, he introduced the lucrative Kapil Dev Grant Thornton Invitational tournament at the DLF Golf and Country Club.

“It is an honour to become the president of PGTI, an organisation with which I have now been associated for quite a few years. It is a players’ body and I am great friends with all of them and with whom I often play,” Dev told PTI.

The 65-year-old is now committed to serve PGTI as per his full potential. He will now aim to further the transformation of professional golf, by recognizing the many positive initiatives already underway in the PGTI for its member-players.
