Unseeded Kyrian Jacquet upsets second seed Billy Harris to win Delhi Open 2025 singles title, highlighting the rising standard of tennis in India.
Frenchman Kyrian Jacquet, who is currently ranked 204th in the world, built on his victory over top seed Vit Kopriva in the semi-final to smash World No. 116 Billy Harris in the final.
He secured the Delhi Open 2025 singles title, just days after winning the Chennai Open 2025. Unseeded Jacquet defeated Harris 6-4, 6-2 to claim the prestigious title at the DLTA Complex Centre Court.
In the previous rounds, Kyrian had defeated seventh seed Sho Shimabukuro and veteran players Jay Clarke and Michael Geerts.
In the final, Kyrian made a strong start, breaking Harris’ serve to take a 3-0 lead. The Briton quickly responded, breaking back and holding his own serve to level the score at 3-3. However, Jacquet regained control, breaking Harris once more in the eighth game and serving out the first set 6-4.
With his sights set on the ATP Challenger title, Jacquet opened the second set with solid serving, fending off pressure before coming close to breaking Harris in the fourth game. Despite relinquishing a 40-0 lead, the second seed managed to hold on, winning the deuce to level the set at 2-2.
Jacquet eventually gained the upper hand in the sixth game, battling back from 40-15 down to win the point with a powerful forehand. He raced through the next game, securing a 5-2 lead. In the eighth game, Jacquet won a thrilling rally, setting himself up with two match points, converting the second to claim the set 6-2 and seal the match.
Jacquet has become the third consecutive Frenchman to win the Delhi Open singles championship, following Geoffrey Blancaneaux (2024) and Stephane Robert (2016).
