Al Rihala is the official ball for the Football World Cup 2022 which is designed by Adidas and promises to travel faster in the air than any ball in the history of the competition.
It is not just a simple ball but the official ball for the Football World Cup to be held in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December. FIFA launched the design of the ball and named it Al Rihala, which means ‘the journey’ in Arabic. The design of the ball “is inspired by the culture, architecture, iconic boats and flag of Qatar”.
Adidas has manufactured the ball, that has now provided 14 consecutive balls of the tournament. Al Rihla is bright with eye-catching colours exclusively made with water-based inks and glues.
Franziska Loeffelmann, the Design Director of Football Graphics and Hardwear at Adidas, said, “The game is getting faster and, as it speeds up, accuracy and flight stability become critically important. The new design allows the ball to maintain a significantly higher speed as it journeys through the air”.
The ball will travel to ten cities across the globe, including Dubai, Tokyo, Mexico City and New York over the next few weeks.
