The PWR DUPR India Masters successfully ended with India’s Armaan Bhatia securing three gold medals.
Armaan Bhatia emerged as the hero of the PWR DUPR India Masters. The four-day event at Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) Stadium, saw over 2,300 matches across 33 categories ranging from Under 12 to 60+. After its successful completion, this tournament can be regarded as one of the largest pickleball tournaments in Asia.
In the Men’s Open category, India’s Armaan Bhatia was up against USA’s Dusty Boyer. After losing the first game 8-11, Armaan came back strongly in the second game and won it 11-9. In the third and final game of the match, Dusty Boyer took the lead 8-0. However, Armaan again fought back, quickly levelling the score to 8-8 and finally winning with an 11-8 score.
In the Women’s Open final, USA’s Sofia Sewing won against Chinese Taipei’s Kao Pei-Chuan, with a score of 11-3 and 11-2.
The Dutch-Australian duo of Roos Van Reek and Kaitlynn Hart clinched the Women’s Doubles title against the Asian duo Yuchieh Hsieh & Xiao Yi Wang-Beckvall. They won the first game 11-5. Hsieh and Wang-Beckvall fought back, winning the second game 11-8. In the third and final game, van Reek-Hart won the battle with an 11-7 win.
The Indian Men’s Doubles pair of Armaan Bhatia and Harsh Mehta won the final against the Australian-American duo of Mitchell Hargreaves and Roman Estareja 11-3, 11-2.
It was Armaan Bhatia again in the Mixed Doubles who won the final pairing with Roos Van Reek. The Indo-Dutch pair beat the Australian pair of George Wall and Danni E. Townsend in a thrilling match with a score of 11-5, 10-11, 11-1.
