Mumbai’s KhushnaAz Siganporia displayed her talent and sportsmanship to win silver in the Junior 12-13 years below 40kg category at the 2024 Muay Thai World Championships.

KhushnaAz started practising combat sports at a young age. Her self-interest in Muay Thai, coupled with the support from her parents, gradually groomed her as a promising martial artist.

Later, KhushnaAz came in contact with Balkrishna Shetty, a pioneer in the field of martial arts in India. He perfectly understood KhushnaAz’s talent and further helped develop her skills and techniques to become at par with international athletes.

At the Muay Thai World Championship in Bangkok, Khushnaz defeated Thailand in the semifinal with aggressive fighting. Though she lost the final match to settle for the silver medal, her sportsmanship throughout the tournament earned her the Best Sportspersonship Award.

The victory in Bangkok brought great joy and pride to her hometown in Borivali and also highlighted her as one of the most promising young athletes in India’s martial arts community.

Farzad Siganporia, KhushnaAz’s father, is a rock-solid supporter who has fought against social norms to make his daughter pursue a combat sport. With a keen interest in developing a successful and sustainable sporting career for KhushnaAz, Farzad Siganporia has made all financial and technical arrangements.

But, now, with KhushnaAz winning a World Championship medal, her father is hopeful of getting sponsors. The young athlete is preparing for her next international tournament- the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Greece.
