Paris Paralympics Day 5- Catch the latest highlights and updates as the Indian athletes had an extraordinary day with two gold medals.

The best-ever Paralympics Day in Indian sporting history. The Indian athletes won a total of eight medals on Paris Paralympics Day 5 with two gold medals. 

Sumit Antil became the first Indian to defend his Paralympic title. Throughout his six throws, he shattered his own Paralympic record twice, with an impressive throw of 70.59 m.

India’s Nitesh Kumar captured the other gold medal of the day for India. He won it in the Men’s Singles SL3 Badminton event at the Paris Paralympics. Facing top rival Daniel Bethell of Great Britain, Nitesh triumphed in a nail-biting three-game match, winning 21-14, 18-21, 23-21. This was Nitesh’s first victory in ten matches against Bethell.

Suhas Yathiraj earned a silver medal after he was defeated in the final of the Men’s Singles Badminton SL4 event on Paris Paralympics Day 5. Competing in the gold medal match, Suhas lost to France’s Lucas Mazur 9-21, 13-21 in 34 minutes.

In the Women’s Singles Badminton SU5, Thulasimathi Murugesan claimed the silver medal. Thulasimathi put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short, losing 21-17, 21-10.

Yogesh Kathuniya won the other silver for India in the Men’s Discus Throw F56 event by delivering his season-best performance with a throw of 42.22 meters. This was Yogesh’s second Paralympic silver medal; the first one was achieved at the Tokyo Paralympics.

Manisha Ramadass secured a bronze medal in the Women’s Singles Badminton SU5 event. The 19-year-old defeated Denmark’s Cathrine Rosengren 21-12, 21-8 in just 25 minutes.

India’s Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar secured the bronze medal in the Mixed Team Compound Archery at the Paris Paralympics. The Indian duo narrowly defeated Italy’s Matteo Bonacina and Eleonora 156-155 at the Invalides.
