Hangzhou Asian Games- A mixed day 5 for Indians with 3 medal wins but defeat in Men’s Football

On day 5 of the Hangzhou Asian Games, India clinched 3 medals- 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze but Sunil Chhetri led Football team suffer pre-QF exit.

India on Day 5

The shooting team, comprising Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema and Shiva Narwal clinched gold in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol team event on Day 5. India’s edged past China by one point accumulating a total of 1734. This was India’s fourth gold medal in Shooting and overall sixth in the ongoing Asian Games.

Naorem Roshibina Devi clinched the silver after losing to China’s Wu Xiaowei 0-2 in the Women’s 60kg Wushu final. It was her second Asian Games medal in successive editions. She won bronze at the 2018 Games in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, riding high on the historic gold medal win in the Equestrian Dressage Team event, Anush Agarwalla won bronze in the Individual event, marking India’s first podium finish in this category. Agarwalla achieved a score of 73.030 to clinch the third position.

Highlights of Day 5

Kuwaiti shooting legend, Abdullah Al Rashidi, won the silver medal in the Skeet Mixed Team event teaming up with Eman Al Shamaa. Al Rashidi capped off Hangzhou campaign with two medals. Earlier he had won gold in the Men’s Skeet Individual event with a prefect 60 hits out of 60 targets.

An Changok of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea took gold in both the Vault and the Uneven Bars Women;’s events. An scored 14.049 points in the Vault with an unparalleled difficulty score of 5.6 for her second routine. She won gold on the Uneven Bars with 14.266.

Chinese athlete Zhang Jun and Wang Zhaozhao took gold and silver respectively, while Japanese athlete Murayama Yutaro claimed bronze in 20km Men’s Race Walk. In the Women’s 20km Race Walk, Yang Jiayu and Ma Zhenxia of China won gold and silver respectively, while Japanese athlete Fujii Nanako took bronze.

Japanese athletes Nener Kenji and Odakura Makoto took gold and silver respectively in the Men’s Triathlon, while, Beisenbayev Ayan of Kazakhstn became the bronze medalist.
