India struck Equestrian gold after 41 years on Day 3 of Hangzhou Asian Games. China’s 13-year old prodigy, Cui Chenxi, won gold in Skateboarding.
India on Day 3
India won its first gold medal in Equestrian since 1982. The Indian team of Sudipti Hajela, Hriday Vipul Chheda, Anush Gaarwalla and Divyakriti Singh scored a total of 209.205 to win gold in the Dressage team event.
17-year old Neha Thakur won the first-ever medal in Sailing for India. She secured silver in Girl’s Dinghy ILCA4 event with a net score of 27. Eabad Ali added another medal as he won the Men’s Dinghy ILCA4 with a net score of 52 points.
Highlights of Day 3
China’s 13-year-old Cui Chenxi claimed gold in the Women’s Street Final of Skateboarding. In a all-teenage final, Cui took gold ahead of compatriot Zeng Wenhui who is 18, and Japan’s 16-year-old Miyu Ito. In the Men’s final, 16-year old China’s Zhang Jie won the gold. The street competition involves skaters performing daring tricks on a course including rails and gaps.
On the opening day of Men’s Cricket, Nepal cruised to 314-3 against Mongolia, thus, recording the highest T20 score.
The 60-year-old shooter, Abdullah Alrashidi of Kuwait equalled the world record in the Men’s Skeet to get his country’s first gold of the Games.
China’s medal tally continued to far exceed all of the others. They clinched the gold medal in the Women’s Team Sprint Track Cycling with a new Asian record. China’s table tennis players secured their fifth straight Women’s Team and the eighth consecutive Men’s Team titles at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
