Indian government’s flagship event, Khelo India Youth Games 2022 successfully ended with Maharashtra winning the title.
Maharashtra won the 5th edition of Khelo India Youth Games after topping the medals tally with 56 gold medals, 55 silvers and 50 bronze. Last edition’s champions Haryana finished second with 41 golds, 32 silvers and 55 bronze. Host Madhya Pradesh came in third with 39 gold, 30 silver and 27 bronze medals.
Over 5,000 athletes from 36 states and Union Territories of India, competed for 973 medals – 295 gold, 295 silver and 383 bronze – in 27 disciplines than took place in 11 venues spread across eight cities in Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi. Madhya Pradesh fielded the largest contingent of 474 athletes.
In this edition Fencing and Water Sports like Canoeing, Kayaking and Slalom were added to the 25-sport list from the last edition.
