Just three months apart, Chess prodigy, R Praggnanandhaa defeated world champion, Magnus Carlsen, for the second time with the latest victory at the Chessable Masters Online Rapid Chess Tournament.
16-year old R Praggnanandhaa, who in 2016 became the youngest international master in history at age 10, had beaten Magnus Carlsen at the Airthings Masters Rapid Chess Tournament earlier in 2022. For the second time in just three months, Praggnanandhaa won against Carlsen after a ‘blunder’ from the world champion in the fifth round of the 16-player Chessables Masters Online Rapid Chess Tournament.
“I’m not so thrilled about my game quality. I’m missing some stuff, some tricks and some tactics so tomorrow I need to be sharper,” Praggnanandhaa said after the match.
Praggnanandhaa is only the third Indian after the great Viswanathan Anand and P Harikrishna to beat the Norwegian superstar. But he is the youngest to do so since Carlsen became world champion in 2013.
