Beijing Winter Olympics- Bo Brothers turn Day 8 into ‘brother’s day’

Day 8 at the Beijing Winter Olympics turned to be brilliant for the Bo family as brothers Johannes Thingnes and Tarjei took gold and bronze respectively in the Men’s Biathlon 10km Sprint.

Johannes Thingnes won his second gold of Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 after victory in the Mixed Relay. The younger sibling also won a bronze in the 20km Individual Sprint. On the other hand, Johannes Tarjei also has a gold medal in his kitty as he was a part of the Mixed Relay Team. As a result, the Bo family has a total medal tally of five. 

Veronika Stepanova

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) won gold in the Women’s 4x5k Relay. Veronika Stepanova of ROC crossed the finish line with a time of 53:41.0 , ahead of Germany who collected silver medal in 53:59.2. Sweden grabbed bronze clocking in at 54:01.7.

Hannah Neise

Hannah Neise, the German who has never won a World Cup medal  or a medal at the world championships, is now the proud owner of an Olympic medal. 21-year old Neise, captured the gold medal in Olympic Skeleton by rallying in the final two heats at the Beijing Games. Jaclyn Narracott of Australia won the silver and World Cup overall champion Kimberley Bos of the Netherlands took the bronze.

Marius Lindvik

Norway’s Marius Lindvik put down a massive second jump to win gold in the Men’s Large Hill Ski Jumping. Favourite Ryoyu Kobayashi, who was bidding for the double gold, had to settle for silver. World Cup leader Karl Geiger from Germany took bronz.

Lindsey Jacobellis and Nick Baumgartner

Lindsey Jacobellis and her teammate, Nick Baumgartner, the oldest pair in the competition, won gold in the Snowboardcross Mixed Team final. The win gave the second gold to Jacobellis in the Beijing Games.

Gao Tingyu

Gao Tingyu won China its first Men’s Speed Skating gold, smashing the Olympic record to cross the finish line in 34.32 seconds at the Beijing Games. It was all Asian on the podium as Cha Min Kyu of South Korea claimed silver in 34.39 seconds and Wataru Morishige of Japan took bronze in 34.49.
