Divya Kakran added a medal to India’s tally at the Asian Games 2018 by winning bronze in 68kg category. Kakran beat Chinese Taipei’s Chen Wenling in the third-place play-off bout by technical superiority with the final scoreline reading 10-0. This is the third Indian medal in Wrestling after Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat won gold in their respective events.
Divya, who hails from Delhi, has won a gold in Commonwealth Championship in 2017. She also won a bronze in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.
The Prime Minister of India congratulated Diya Kakran on her win through his tweet, “One of our most promising wrestlers, Divya Kakran shines in the 68 Kg Freestyle wrestling event at the Asian Games 2018. Congratulations for the Bronze Medal.”
