Sensational Shooting: Saurabh Chaudhary wins gold, Abhishek Verma bags bronze in Men’s 10m Air Pistol

Saurabh Chaudhary and Abhishek Verma added to India’s medals tally as they bagged gold and bronze medals in Men’s 10m Air Pistol event at the Asian Games 2018. 16-year old Chaudhary hit 10.4 in his final attempt to get gold against Tomoyuki Matsuda of Japan who shot 10.3 in his final attempt. The Indian shot a total of 240.7, which is also a Games Record.

Abhishek Verma settled for a bronze his total points tally reading 219.3. The two teenagers proved their medal credentials by reaching the finals as with first and sixth positions. 

“Superb show by young Saurabh !! Many many Congratulations. We must pledge support to these young athletes for a sustained period of time irrespective of results. They have the ingredients for Olympic success. Needs persistent support irrespective,” the legendary Abhinav Bindra tweeted.

Saurabh and Abhishek has given India the sixth and seventh medal. Indan shooters have shown immense maturity in winning five medals in the tournament so far. Earlier, Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar won bronze in 10m Air Rifle Team event. Deepak Kumar earned his first medal at a major event by bagging a silver in the 10m Air Rifle individual event. 18-year old Lakshay Sheoran finished with a silver medal in Men’s Trap event.
