Squash silver in Mixed Doubles and Women’s Double; bronze in TT Mixed Doubles

Defending Champions Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinappa settled for silver after losing their Women’s Doubles  Squash final match to the New Zealand pair of Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy at the Commonwealth Games. Pallikal and Chinappa lost the final in straight games 9-11, 8-11, who lost just three games in their six matches on their way to the final.

Earlier, Saurav Ghosal and Dipika Pallikal settled for the silver medal in the mixed doubles Squash event. They became the first Indian pair to achieve the feat at the Commonwealth Games. The Indians lost 0-2 (8-11 10-11) to the Australian duo of Donna Urquhart and Cameron Pilley.

The only Table Tennis medal match remaining for India on the final day of the Games was of Mixed Doubles. Manika Batra and Gnanasekharan Sathiyan defeated compatriot Sharath Achanta and Mouma Das in the bronze-medal match by 11-6 11-2 11-4 . With this Manika Batra’s sensational run at the Games ended where she claimed a medal in every event she competed.
