Experienced Indian shooter Heena Sidhu bagged the first gold of Day 6 in the 25m Pistol event at the Commonwealth Games 2018. Heena compensated the loss of eight-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Gagan Narang, who finished at the 7th position in Men’s 50m Rifle Prone event. This is Heena’s second medal at this year’s Games after she bagged silver in 10m Air Pistol event.
Heena Sidhu won the gold by finishing with a new Games record of 38 points. Annu Singh, who was the other Indian in action, finished sixth after scoring 15 in the final.
After the ninth series, Heena Sidhu remained in gold medal position with 34 points. Elena Galiabovitch was the other competitor in the final round. She was at 32 points. The gold medal round saw Elena getting distracted and finishing at 35 points whereas Sidhu missed only one target to finish at 38 points.
