Stuart MacGill, a brilliant spinner but who lost his career to controversy, was born on this day. He took 208 wickets in 44 Test matches and retired from cricket in 2008.

Javed Miandad made the last of his six double-centuries in Auckland against New Zealand. He made 271 in Pakistan’s innings of 616.
1993
Pakistan scored the lowest ODI score at that time-they were all out for 43 against West Indies. Only Zahid Fazal (21) and extras (10) made it to double figures. Courtney Walsh (4 for 16) was the main destroyer. There were a record six ducks. West Indies took 12.3 overs to reach the target.
