German Bobsleigh team of Candy Bauer, Martin Grothkopp, Thorsten Margis and led by Francesco Friedrich won gold in the four Man Bobsleigh event. Friedrich collected his second gold medal at PyeongChang 2018 while leading the pack in the race. The second dead-heat result at PyeongChang 2018 saw the silver medal awarded to Republic of Korea and Germany. The Korean team comprised of the leader Won Yun-jong, Jun Junglin, Seo Youngwoo and Kim Donghyun. The German team of he leader Nico Walther, Kevin Kuske, Alexander Roediger and Eric Franke split the bronze with the home team.
Sweden dominated the Women’s Curling final over the host nation to defeat them 8-3 and win the gold for their nation. Coming as favourites in the tournament, after their silver medal at Sochi 2014 and gold medal at Vancouver 2010 and Turin 2006, Sweden outplayed the Koreans in the final. The team of Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) won their Men’s Ice Hockey final match against Germany by 4-3 to win the gold. The match went into overtime after the two teams were locked at 3-3 at the end of the three 20-minute periods. It was Kirril Kaprizov’s goal in the 10th minutes of the extra period that clinched it for the OAR team. The Germans, playing in their first ever Olympic ice hockey final,ended their fairy-tale journey with a silver. Earlier, reigning Olympic champions Canada, clinched the bronze by overpowering the Czech Republic 6-4.
