It was an all-round performance from the Indian eves in the T20 series against South Africa that made them clinch the series by 3-1. Batting first, India finished with a combative 166 with Mithali Raj scoring her 3rd fifty of the series and her 13th one overall. Veteran Raj showed aggression in her innings of 62 runs off 50 balls. She was supported by youngster J. Rodrigues who made a quickfire of 44 balls off 34. Towards the end, Harmanpreet Kaur played a 17-ball cameo.
In response to India’s total, South Africa’s chase never got going. Sikha Pandey, Rumeli Dhar and Rajeshwari Gayakwad took 2 wickets each to fold the South African innings for a paltry 112. India beat South Africa by 54 runs to win the five-match series 3-1.
It is a historic series win for India as it is a rare double for the women cricketers. This is the first time India won both ODI and T20 series in the same country.
