Gundappa Viswanath, one of the most stylish batsmen India have produced, was born on this day. He made a strokeful century at Kanpur against Australia in 1969. Vishwanath was the master of late cut, in some way he defined the shot. He played the game in its true spirit. He recalled Bob Taylor in the Golden Jubilee match against England in 1979-80. It cost him the Test, one of only two where he led India.

1961
Mushtaq Mohammad became the youngest Test centurion. He scored a century at 17 years 82 days, against India in Delhi. It was a Test record until Bangladesh’s Mohammad Ashraful made a century on debut at the age of 17 years and 63 days.

1964
Richie Benaud bid adieu to cricket in Sydney after 63-Test, He bowed out with 14 runs and four wickets as Australia drew with South Africa. Overall, Benaud had 2201 runs and 248 wickets in Test cricket.

Her love for sports started from an early age when she played gully cricket and football for local teams. Academics and professional hazards sometimes took her away from her passion, but it never died in her. She always nurtured the never-ending dream.
