Asif Masood, the right-arm fast-medium bowler, was born on this day. He played for Pakistan quite for almost 7 years after making his debut in 1968-69 against Pakistan. He played 16 Tests, with 5 for 111 at Edgbaston in 1971 as his best figure.

Don Bradman scored his 12th double hundred and it was the last one for him. He scored it against India in Adelaide. His 201 and Lindsay Hassett’s 198 helped Australia to post a mammoth score of 674.
1952
Omar Henry, the first South African non-white cricketer to play international cricket, was born on this day. He made his Test debut at the age of 40 in 1992 against India in Durban. He also played in the 1992 World Cup.
1999
Ugly spat between the Sri Lanka and the English players occurred today. It all started when umpire Ross Emerson no-balled Muttiah Muralitharan for throwing in this World Series match in Adelaide. In reply, Arjuna Ranatunga led his team off the pitch for a while. Later there was a violent exchange of words between Ranatunga and English skipper Alec Stewart. Things did not stop here as Darren Gough further ignited the flame by feigning a head-butt at Roshan Mahanama after he was obstructed.

New Zealand set the world-record sixth-wicket partnership of 267 against Sri Lanka in Dunedin. Luke Ronchi and Grant Elliott set things rolling for New Zealand after they were down by 5 wickets for 93. Ronchi and Elliot managed to take New Zealand to 360. Their partnership came in 180 balls.
