Vinod Kambli, the child prodigy who seemed to overcome many records, was born on this day. Kambli started playing school cricket early and with Sachin Tendulkar shared many memorable partnership. He was considered to be a horse for long race but could not meet up to the expectation and went into oblivion. Kambli scored two double-hundreds in his first four Tests at an average of 54.

Pakistan achieved their first Test victory in Australia. They defeated Australia by 8 wickets. Imran took 12 wickets in the match and Sarfraz Nawaz took 6. Asif Iqbal made a crucial 120.
1998
India defeated Pakistan in the Independence Cup final at Dhaka overpassing 316, the highest total at the time to win a one-dayer batting second. Sourav Ganguly hammered 124 and Robin Singh made 82.
2015
AB de Villiers scored the fastest ODI hundred in just 31 balls against West Indies in Johannesburg. It was just a year after New Zealand’s Corey Anderson broke the record for the fastest ODI hundred getting in 36 balls. AB also broke the record for the fastest fifty. He reached there in just 16 balls one ball less than Sanath Jayasuriya took in 1996. His compatriot Hashim Amla and Rilee Rossouw also made hundreds in the game. It was the first occasion when three triple-figure scores were made in an ODI innings.
