South Africa earned their first Test victory against England.
1975
Mike Denness became the first captain to drop himself from a Test match when he left himself out against Australia in Sydney. Denness was going through a lean match and had scored only 65 runs in six innings before the match. He set an example by axing himself to bring England back on winning track.
2016
Chris Gayle made sexist remarks to a pitch-side reporter on camera during the Big Bash League. This landed him to extreme trouble as he was fined A$10,000 by Melbourne Renegades for his remarks. Interviewed by Channel Ten’s Mel McLaughlin after his dismissal in a game, Gayle said, “I wanted to come and have an interview with you as well. That’s the reason why I’m here, just to see your eyes for the first time. It’s nice so… Hopefully we can win this game and have a drink after. Don’t blush, baby.”
