Chetan Sharma, the seam bowler for India, was born on this day. Sharma was the first bowler to take a hat-trick in a World Cup match. His feat came against New Zealand.

Mohammad Azharuddin made his debut century against England in Calcutta. Azhar scored 110 on his arrival.

Alex Hales, the first T20I centurion for England, was born on this day. Hales made 100 during the 2014 World T20. He made his one-day debut against India at Cardiff in 2014. His maiden ODI century came against Pakistan in the UAE in 2015.

Steve Waugh made a century on this day while playing his last Ashes Test. In Sydney, Waugh played a dream innings and reached his century in 130 balls. On this day he also became the third batsman, after Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border, to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket.
