Shubhankar Sharma wins his first European Tour golf title

India’s promising golfer Subhankar Sharma won his first European Tour title as he claimed the $1.2 million Joburg Open. Sharma who is ranked 462 in the men’s golf rankings won the glory as he shot a final round 3 under par 69 to finish three shots ahead of South African Erik van Rooyen.

21-year-old Subhankar became the first Asian to win the Joburg Open in his first appearance in South Africa. This win has given him the chance to play next year’s Open Championship at Carnoustie, Scotland.

The young golfer will be among the top attractions in the sixth McLeod Russel Tour Championship which is the year’s last professional golf tournament in India. The tournament will be played over the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) course from December 21-24, 2017. He finished tied 10th here last year.
