He was only 20 then. It was a day when another Aussie made his debut. Bert Ironmonger made his debut at the age of 46. He was the oldest Test debutant at that time.

Phillip Hughes, who died at the age of 26 after being terribly hit by a cricket ball on the field, was born on this day. The Aussie was a technically-sound player who became the youngest man to score a century in both innings of a Test match.

Zimbabwe achieved their first overseas Test victory against Pakistan in Peshawar. They became successful in their 15th attempt.
