India march into the semifinals of Women’s Asia Cup Hockey

The Indian women’s hockey team continued their good form and marched into the semifinals of  Asia Cup by routing Kazakhstan 7-1 at Kakamgigahara in Japan. With this win they now have an all-win performance in the tournament. In the group matches India beat Singapore 10-0, China 4-1 and Malaysia 2-0 to top their pool with 9 points.

In the quarter final India was down in just the 2nd minute when Kazakhstan’s Vera Domashneva netted a goal. But in-form Gurjit Kaur scored the equaliser in the 4th minute. Deep Grace Ekka slotted the second one in the 16th minute and Navneet Kaur scored in the 22nd and 27th minutes. Deep made it 5-0 in the 41st minute, after which Gurjit scored in the 42nd and 56th minutes. 

Gurjit is now the leading goal-scorer for India at the Asia Cup with 6.
