Shapath Bharadwaj wins individual bronze, Lakshay-Manisha win team bronze

15-year old Shapath Bharadwaj won bronze in double trap shooting in ISSF Junior Shotgun World Cup at Porpetto  in Italy. Shapath qualified in second place for the final round  shooting 131 out of 150. In the bronze medal match , he defeated Eraldo Apolloni of Italy scoring 48 over 40l. James Dedman of Great Britain won the gold and Miki Ylonen of Finland won the silver. Shapath missed the gold medal match by just 1 point. He was the youngest among the finalists.

Earlier in the day Lakshay Sheoran and Manisha Keer  won India the bronze medal in the mixed team trap competition. They defeated the US pair of Sevin Edward Layer and Emma Lee Williams 34-33 in the bronze medal match. The Indian pair finished fourth among 16 teams in the qualifying, shooting a combined score of 84 out of 100 to make the six-team final rounds.

It is to be noted that Shapath Bharadwaj won the 13th International Grandpix in Porpetto last year. He is also the youngest shotgun shooter to make into the Indian senior team at the age of 14. He even made history by becoming the youngest player in the world to enter the ISSF World Cup Senior Finals in May 2017 at Larkana in Cyprus.
