Vijender Singh remains unbeaten, wins his 9th bout

The verdict is out. Vijender Singh has done it once again. He added another feather to his cap in pro boxing when he defeated China’s Zulpikar Maimaitial in a dual title bout in Mumbai. The score reads in Vijender’s favour 96-93, 95-94, 95-94.

31-year old Vijender SIngh was the reigning WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight and Zulpikar was the WBO Oriental Super Middleweight champion. But this win against his Chinese opponent gave Vijender both belts. Thus Singh remains unbeaten in his professional career so far.

The fight was a treat for the fans. It was a nail-biting event as Vijender did not have a easy go through. Zulpikar came down on Vijender with some heavy blows. Sometimes it seemed that he would go away with the match. But Vijender showed his mettle and stood his ground to connect when it mattered the most.

Meanwhile, Jitender Kumar and Akhil Kumar both won in their pro-boxing debuts.
