Shooter Dhanush Srikant and the Indian Badminton team won two gold on the 3rd day of 24th Summer Deaflympics at Caxias do Sul in Brazil.
Dhanush Srikanth, who continues to stun the sporting fraternity with his wins in regular categories in spite of having hearing impairment, finished at the top spot in Men’s 10m Air Rifle at the 24th Summer Deaflympics. 19 yr old, Dhanush, scored a total of 247.5 to clinch the gold. That was India’s first gold in Deaflympics 2021.
While Dhanush led the way, Shaurya Sani followed him. The young shooter from Uttarakhand won the bronze in Men’s 10m Air Rifle with a score of 224.3. Woo Rim Kim of Korea won the silver with a total score of 246.6.
India won the second gold at Deaflympics 2021 in the team event of Badminton. Team India defeated Japan by 3-1 to win the medal. In the group matches, India defeated France by 4-1 and Brazil by 5-0.In the quarter finals, India were up against Turkey whom they beat by 3-1. They made their way to the final by defeating Chinese Taipei by 3-1 in the semi finals.
India has already surpassed last edition’s gold medal tally when they won a solitary gold in Wrestling.
