Wazir Mohammad, brother of Hanif Mohammad who often remained under the shadow of Hanif, was born on this day. Wazir was one of four Test-playing Mohammad brothers. He scored both his Test hundreds in the Caribbean series of 1957-58.

Dilip Doshi, the left-arm spinner for India, was born on this day. Doshi made his debut at the age of 31 but he took 6 for103 in his debut match against Australia in Madras in 1979-80. He is one of four bowlers to have taken 100 wickets after making their Test debuts past age 30, alongside Clarrie Grimmett, Saeed Ajmal and Ryan Harris.

Brian McMillan, one of South Africa’s finest all-rounders was born on this day. He was the team’s big brother during his playing days as everyone expected wickets and runs from him in times of need. In his 38 Test matches, McMillan took 75 wickets and hit three Test hundreds.

PoulomiKundu started her career in 2000 as a freelance journalist in Hindustan Times. Soon after she was selected an intern in Zee News, Kolkata. After her post- graduation in English, Poulomi joined the leading television production house of eastern India, Rainbow Productions. Poulomi directs promotional videos, develops scripts for films for Corporate and NGOs. But an ardent sports lover, Poulomi always had an urge to contribute somewhere in the field of sports. Her love for sports started from an early age when she played gully cricket and football for local teams. Academics and professional hazards sometimes took her away from her passion, but it never died in her. She always nurtured the never-ending dream.
